There's Magic at the Shore
Touring the Outer Banks of North Carolina

Magic is unfolding at the shore. Hidden by the salt haze, drifting in the air, is a show constantly cheered on by the continuous dull roar of water in motion. The tide flows in and out like the regularity of a nightly curtain for a Broadway hit. This show has been headlining in Duck, North Carolina now for thousands of years. Duck is on the northern end of North Carolina's barrier islands known as the Outer Banks. Whether you're a local with a preference towards the lazy lifestyle of resort living or a tourist, ultimately, everyone in the Outer Banks is looking to stall life, just for a moment. The inhabitants have changed from the early days when Sir Walter Raleigh set up the first English settlement in North America, encroaching on the Algonkian Indians. But, the natural dramatics remain the same.

And so, for a weekend, we make an attempt to freeze time, as we explore the ever-changing landscape, and gain an understanding of the contributions spanning generations of men and women who have greatly altered our world.
