Feng Shui and Barnes Place

Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of placement in relation to energy, is about fine-tuning your inner Ch'i (life force) with your surroundings, based upon the premise that the Earth's energies -- magnetic and astral -- are always changing. By understanding the flow of energy and its positive and negative influences, one can enhance the flow of energy to create a space conducive to one's goals and aspirations in life. Through Feng Shui, you create balance in your life through your physical setting.

We have studied Feng Shui for many years now, and Barnes Place has been decorated with the principles of Feng Shui in mind. Rooms have been decorated and painted in a way to enhance the activities which take place in those spaces.

Below are the books which have helped to guide Barnes Place in our studies.

Feng Shui Handbook by Master Lam Kam Chuen, only $13.56, shipped directly to your door. Buy the book today!

This is an easy read with many illustrations to help you understand the principles being discussed. There are many schools of thought when it comes to Feng Shui, and this book scratches the surface of many. Unfortunately, because it doesn't delve too deeply into any one area, you're left confused about the principles behind the actions. If you want to know where to put your desk or bed, this book will tell you, however, you'll never be clear on why. Still, a good book to have in your collection, particularly when complimented with others.

Feng Shui: The Chinese Art of Placement by Sarah Rossbach, only $11.16, shipped directly to your door. Buy the book today!

A heavy read, this book dives deeply into the philosophy of Feng Shui. Not recommended for those just starting out. What the Feng Shui Handbook (above) lacks in depth, this one makes up for. If you master this book, you're truly beginning to understand Feng Shui, and you'll be capable of implementing the practice at a much more serious level. A must for the serious fanatic.

Feng Shui: Secrets That Change Your Life by Li Pak Tin & Helen Yeap, only $9.56, shipped directly to your door. Buy the book today!

We haven't read this book yet, but it's next on our list. We purchased this because of it appears to be a simple, easy read. It doesn't go much into the philosophy, but dives right into the practicals. This book goes in-depth when it comes to the 'whys', though. For example, it doesn't say 'this is bad' and leave you hanging like other books, but it explains why and then gives you a fix. This book also explores the environment around your home to a greater extent than any other book in our collection.

Living Color by Sarah Rossbach & Lin Yin, only $14.40, shipped directly to your door. Buy the book today!

This is the book that guided our selection of the room colors in Barnes Place. This is the only book that examines the role of color in Feng Shui. A must for any Feng Shui enthusiest. Easy to read and understand.
