State Selected as Pageant Judge

BARNES PLACE (ATLANTA, GEORGIA) - Director of Ambiance and Entertainment Timothy State has been selected to serve again as a pageant judge. Only this time, it's a male pageant celebrating inner beauty while spoofing the pageant world. It's all in good fun to help raise funds for Actor's Express, a local theatre.

"Mr. Beautiful Thing Pageant" coincides with Actor's Express' current hit production, "A Beautiful Thing", a touching tale of two boys who discover, despite their short comings, their greatest security is within themselves.. Reviews rave Actor's Express' production is better than the popular movie of the same title.

The pageant will feature celebrity guest M.C.s Libby Whittemore, local cabaret superstar, and Clinton Guterman, lead performer in "A Beautiful Thing". So even if the contestants have absolutely no talent, these capable and talented two will certainly be there to save the day. The show is shaping up to be nothing less than good old-fashioned campy fun, featuring the disco sounds of Ethel Merman, a song and dance routine centered on glow sticks, and a diverse talent competition to include at least one exposition on the art and science of fly fishing.

"You know you've reached the big-time on the pageant circuit when you're on a panel of judges with the general manager of your local grocery story," said State, who will serve on a panel of judges consisting of prominent (or not-so-prominent) local personalities.

The pageant starts at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, August 17, and will feature an open bar for the audience. If you would like more information on the event and discount tickets, e-mail tim.state@barnesplace.com.
