State Wins Writing Competition
BARNES PLACE (ATLANTA, GEORGIA) - Upon returning from New Orleans for a weekend writing festival, Saints and Sinners, Co-Director Timothy State received a letter from the O, Georgia! Writing Foundation indicating his essay, Savoring Endorphins with Pride has been selected as a winner in the sixth annual O, Georgia statewide writing competition. The essay will be included in this years edition of O, Georgia! A Collection of Georgias Newest & Most Promising Writers.
State will be presented with a copy of the book at a formal reception at Humpus Bumpus Books in Cumming, Georgia on Saturday, October 16, which will kick-off the sale of this years edition. He and other writers selected for inclusion will autograph the books at the reception.
Savoring Endorphins with Pride, an essay about a first kiss, was originally published July 10, 2003, in The Story, a community newspaper covering neighborhood news, with which State has an occasionally column. The essay was selected out of 250 entires. The essay is posted on-line at:

While at Saints and Sinners, State had the opportunity to mingle with authors Christopher Rice, Patricia Nell Warren, Bob Smith, and Alex Sanchez, to name a few. He also attended a reception in the French Quarter hosted by a local businessman and his drag queen wife, as well as a pool-side dinner party at the former home of Tennessee Williams. But those, said State, are tales for another time.
