FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 11, 2000, 11:30 p.m. Day of Remembrance Brings Hope For New Life
BARNES PLACE, ATLANTA, GA--It was a day of remembrance at Barnes Place as preparations were under way for "Resurgens: Flamingo Rising", Barnes Place's (www.barnesplace.com) next Blowout on Saturday, May 13 at 7:35 p.m. One year ago today, 20 percent of the flock at Flamingo Grove was wiped out by a storm-flung inflatable chair in the Flamingo Grove Massacre, the nation's worst plastic chair-related Flamingo disaster. Ironically, "Flamingo Grove Seeds" presented to Barnes Place by Jack and Aaron, Atlanta, Georgia, in hopes they would help the flock to regenerate sprouted for the first time today. The seeds were sown into the soil around Barnes Place. Barnes Place Co-Directors are expecting the Flamingo Grove seeds to be in full-bloom by the time Saturday's event rolls around. Remembering the disaster, it was a quite day of reflection with family members at Barnes Place today. Mom and Dad State have traveled from Llama Rama Vista, Oregon, to spend time with the Co-Directors. They will stay through "Resurgens: Flamingo Rising." and return to their 35-acre llama ranch retreat on Mother's Day. Together, the family planted perennial flowers on the grounds of Barnes Place to symbolize the perpetual cycle of life. Afterwards, they dined together at a trendy Midtown restaurant, away from the paparrazi of Buckhead. Barnes Place Co-Directors Anthony Dornacher and Timothy State declined to make a comment on the massacre, but said they were looking forward to see family and friends on Saturday evening. Guests are asked to bring the beverage of their choice and a side dish to share. Barnes Place will provide grilled flamingo sandwiches, non-alcoholic beverages and mixers. --END-- |
