I went to Church on Sunday, and thought I would snap a few pictures just to prove it. After Pastor Peter promoted the take-home gifts available in the gift shop (as you exit, of course), he introduced Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Baker), who just happened to be delivering the service. Sorry they're not completely sharp - it's hard to focus when the Holy Ghost keeps getting in the way.

In the former movie theatre converted to church, Tammy delivered an inspiring message - "My story is just like your story." She continued on, after building up the world's three largest Christian Television Networks and building Heritage USA, which 6 million people visited in the last year, she and Jim lost PTL. Mean people took PTL away from them, and her ex-husband had to go to jail, and then because of what those people did, her second husband had to spend two years in jail. "So you see," she says, "my story is just like yours."

In Tammy1.jpg, No, that's not a racoon at the Alter. That's Tammy Faye flipping through her bible. She looked up to another minister in the front row of the audience and asked if his bible was as beat up as hers is. "Yours is probably just like mine," she said, "Only mine has tears and makeup in it."

In Tammy2.jpg, Tammy Faye sings about the beauty of Jesus on the Cross. While romanticizing the sacrifice he made for our sins, a cat managed to run across the alter, creating great commotion amongst the choir boys, and sent the ushers running.

Tammy wanted to thank the sound man. She forgot to wear a belt, so she had to get real close to the sound guy, Steve. "I feel so close to you know, Steve. [Chuckle]. You'd think over twenty years in television and I'd remember to wear a belt to hold my microphone. Thank God, I put on panty hose this morning."

In Tammy3.jpg, Tammy Faye points to Jesus, who she never lost faith in, even though her heart was broken by the mean people who hurt her. They broke her heart. The very people who ministered the word of the Lord with her, turned against her and Jim and they lost the PTL, which broke her heart. And while she was heartbroken, she never lost her faith in Jesus. [Standing ovation.]

In Tammy4.jpg - This is my favorite shot. You can feel her channeling Jesus. The power makes me weep. Here, Tammy Faye sings out "The Sun Will Shine Again", the last song she sang before her and Jim, her ex-husband, lost PTL and they went of the air.

In Tammy5.jpg - Tammy Faye is a extra blurry because Jesus elbowed me in the ribs, telling me to pay attention. I pointed out to Jesus that if Tammy Faye can crack open a Diet Coke mid-service, hold it up to the Lord and proclaim, "This is my drug of choice", I could certainly snap a picture or two.

It was so inspiring, and the next time I loose a theme park and three cable networks, I'll know to keep my head high and not loose my faith, too. 'Cause nobody can take my faith away. Not even mean people.
