I don't say we all ought to misbehave, but we ought to look as if we could.

A hearty and festive crowd showed up at Barnes Place with hundreds of pounds of canned goods in hand for the Atlanta Community Food Bank on December 2. It was all a part of the official holiday season kick-off, the Eighth Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony, "Have a Bulb!"

It's taken a few days for us to post photos of the event. It seems someone commandeered the digital camera, and, well, um, some of the photos had to be edited. Of course, Barnes Place cannot take responsibility for the individual actions of guests. One guilty party once grumbled he couldn't share BarnesPlace.com with his mother because of documented events. But, there is a notice clearly posted in the lavatory, "By your presence here tonight, you waive any and all claims in connection with the exploitation of tonight's event and consent to the reproduction and use of your likeness and or voice."

BarnesPlace.com is all about documenting the joys of life. It is the dynamic people around us who bring great joy to our daily lives, and we can't help but to share them with you. The pictures of "Have a Bulb!" are dedicated to those individuals who have trouble behaving in ways their mother's can relate to.

And, as part of our role as Cultural Carpetbaggers--Yankees in the South--we want to share with you select tips from social guides, etiquette books and party hosting pamphlets, all printed prior to 1962. These guides have been presented to Barnes Place as gifts from guests. If nothing else, we hope your mother can related to these tips when touring BarnesPlace.com.
