    Mermaid Culture Soaked Up

            A mermaid named Karri Holliday, son of a crab claw fisherman, discussed with the New York Times the stresses of life for a mermaid out of water, and provides great insight into Mermaid Culture. If you’ve never been to Weeki Wachee Springs, it’s a spectacle not to be missed. We’ve been there twice now.
            "Mary Jane Johnson, you touch that manatee and I'll beat your ass, " yelled a woman shaking a smoking Marlboro at a girl standing waste deep in Weeki Wachee Spring. "Get AWAY from that God damn manatee." Just beyond the Marlboro-weilding woman, her toddler with mullet-style hair sat in a beach chair riffling through his mother's purse, strewing Tampex all over the sandy beach.

    I sooooooo love Weeki Wachee!!!!!!! I remember when I was a little girl, I completely thought the mermaids were real. We went there almost every summer when I was a kid.
