Letter Form. Version 5.5 and two printings later, we are ready to send the announcement letter. It is, I’m certain to say, going this week. Tony and Dan thought it was done versions ago. Every time I set it down, however, I just didn’t like it when I came back to it. Now, I think it’s short, sweet, and to-the-point. Andrew felt there shouldn’t be any political or legal reference. Dan said it wasn’t the letter he would write. And Tony, as with everything I write, said it is good.
But good is simply not good enough. This is going to be the letter that sets the tone. It will lay the foundation for everything to come. It should be filled with love, but not overly sappy, formal yet fun. I could have obsessed over the paper like this, too, but figured the content is more important that the overall look.
So now we are addressing envelopes and signing letters, and in a few days, we’ll find out if I have been able to meet the standards I’ve set for myself.
